What years have we to live? 40? 60? 100? 120? Does it really matter? Is life of any consequence? What we consider gratifying, is it? When we search for meaning, do we find it? Are all our hustles worth it? Is success really what we consider it? Are our answers to these questions actually right? Do the answers we find redefine our cause?
Where do we find meaning? What explains things as they are?
Meaning is purpose. We did not choose to come alive, rather, we were. Our lives are not really 'ours'. Neither are they our parents'. Indeed, when they came together, they had no 'control' over who or what would come out. As a matter of fact, they, our parents, only got to know our gender months later, some even at birth.
One thing I am sure of is that nothing happens by chance. Nothing. A meeting cannot happen unless it is planned. A house cannot stand unless it is built. There is no kind of institution unless it is established. There is no government unless it is set up. There is no food on the table unless it is sought after.
And certainly no life unless it is given.
But who by? It only means that the giver, or creator, of human life must be greater than humans themselves!
If I call that creator a 'force of nature', or quite plainly, 'nature', then nature must be alive, have a mind (alas the creativity!) and, needless to say, more superior. And who, or what, is more superior to man?
God.
When I appreciate this fact, then I begin to understand the mystery of the universe. That everyday the rising of the sun from the East and it's setting in the West is no coincidence. Storms rage, tsunamis hit, but the sea keeps its boundaries. Earthquakes begin but wane off. Rains fall but then cease. Pandemics hit and sweep but then end. Seasons come and go. Night comes then daylight, again. There's males and there's females. There's good and there's evil. There's sweet and there's bitter.
'Nature' must have brain. 'Nature' must be an entity, an entity that makes everything click into place. That set it all up from the beginning, and sustains it all by 'their' will and mindpower up to now. Created the skies and the stars in their order and magnificence. Made the land and the seas and all creatures therein. Set the limits to the winds and the waters. Set up seasons and their stay. Ordained the earth as we know it, and indeed created man also, giving him power and intelligence superior to that of all beings known to him, that he may subdue the earth and rule over everything in it.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:3-5 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Genesis 1:6-8 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Genesis 1:9-13 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
Genesis 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Genesis 1:20-23 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. .
Genesis 1:24-31 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
There therefore comes about this inevitable reality: only the fool says in his heart, "there is no God."
Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
The even greater fool is he who, having acknowledged the existence of God, chooses yet to live a life apart from Him, never seeking to find Him out and gain purpose.
Romans 1:21-32 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature, and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
In His world, honour God. Seek to know His ways and purpose for your existence, and execute it. For the giver of life will in due time require an account of the life, for indeed the life, is an investment.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
